My sister finally gave birth (after being 9 days overdue) to a beautiful baby girl, Emma.  But it wasnt quite the labour experience any of us were expecting!!!

 

The contractions started throughout the day on Friday, I saw my sister at about 6pm and they were consistently at about 15 mins apart, she felt certain that something was going to happen that night.  My mum was due to be birthing partner along with my sisters boyfriend, so it was agreed that as soon as my sister thought it was time she would contact my mum and get her down here as she lives about an hour away from the hospital.

 

I went over to my friends as originally planned and when driving home about 11pm, my mum called to say that she thinks it would be worth getting to my house 'just in case'.  Along came my mum and in the meantime, she had had a call from my sis to say that she was going to the hospital because the contractions had become pretty hard and more frequent.  As soon as my mum got to me, she dropped my little sister off and headed straight to the hospital.  My little sister is only 8 so she went straight back to bed and I waited by the phone for any news.  Anyway, about 30 mins later, my mum called me to say that Becks had been sent home by the midwife so my mum was heading back to mine.  Its about 1.30am at this point and the midwife basically had checked Becky over and she was only 2 cms dilated so sent her home with some paracetamol and sleeping tablets!

 

Anyway, my mum and I were just sitting around at home chatting when her mobile went off.  It was Chris and he said to my mum that she should come straight away!!!  So up my mum got and headed straight to the hospital again.  About 40 mins later, I got a call from my sister.  Now I thought she was just sitting on the labour ward as she sounded so very calm.  She was actually sitting at home....recovering...from giving birth on her bathroom floor!!!!!!!!  I couldnt believe it....my sister's boyfriend had delivered their baby at home...with noone there.  They were trying to get hold of my mum but because she was in the hospital she had her phone off.  I drove straight to the hospital and met with my mum, we both then drove to my sisters house and met our beautiful new arrival. 

 

It was an amazing experience and luckily both my sister and her new daughter are well...Chris is on cloud nine and you can check the piccies out in my album.
